The Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Ziad Fariz, stressed that the recovery of the national economy is practically linked to the end of the Coronavirus crisis in Jordan, pointing out that international changes will impose on us a new strategy for development.

Fariz expected the Jordanian economy to start recovering in the third quarter of 2020, in light of treasury revenues and the Jordanian economy would shrink by 3.4 percent, due to the effects of Corona.

He also considered that the economic relations are witnessing a major rift due to Corona, and the intertwining in which the countries were linked have become fragile, and the closure has started to resurface in those countries.

Fariz stressed that the central bank supports the private sector to overcome the Corona crisis and reach self-reliance, pointing out that the banking system plays a major role in promoting financial inclusion and reaching the most targeted groups.

He believed that the Corona crisis is "unprecedented" and its consequences are dire and profound on the world level, and not only on the level of Jordan, and he added that everyone who believes that Jordan or any country in the pre-pandemic world will be the same country in its policies and economic trends after Corona is illusory.
